My art is about the exploration of visual surroundings. Since I found some forms of communication challenging, drawing became a way for me to express myself. Drawing was an exercise in reproducing my environment that enabled me to learn how to see.
As I continued to draw, I became more adept at observing the world around me. I began to realize that I wasn’t able to show certain intangible things such as gesture, feeling, and mood in my work.
With my art, I am looking to capture that intangible aspect of the subject whether it is the gesture of a figure or the mood of a landscape. I am searching for that intangible variable that one cannot just copy. Rather one needs to sense or feel it.
